The Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ is just one part of a single chapter in my new book, God’s Prescription. This often surprises those who know me as a cookbook author or functional nutritionist—many expected a book filled with nutrition advice, recipes, or meal plans. Instead, they’ll find a faith-based call to shift their mindset and reclaim their natural health—one that connects Scripture and science through a functional medicine lens.
But that’s what God called me to write. And I wasn’t going to be disobedient.
My Personal Calling – The Backstory
Yes, I have two nutrition certifications, but I also hold a master’s degree in human nutrition and functional medicine, and this “root cause” approach felt like part of my DNA long before I had the credentials. Functional medicine always made sense to me because it doesn’t chase symptoms—it asks why and keeps asking until the root cause is uncovered.
At the same time, I’ve walked with God long enough to recognize His voice. When He made it clear I was supposed to write this book, it wasn’t just about what I knew—it was about what He wanted to say through me.
More than one person has told me, “You didn’t write this—Holy Spirit did.” I believe that. Everything came together: my degree, my personal health journey, my writing experience with The Epoch Times —all of it led to God’s Prescription. Then, when I didn’t think I had stories or words, I’d wake up in the morning with exactly what I needed.
Still, I understand why people expected a nutrition book. So let me introduce just one piece of what’s inside Chapter 10: the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet.
The Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ Framework
One of the tools I’ve used with clients for years is something I call the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ (AIRD™). This whole-food, color-rich approach draws on the science of polyphenols—plant compounds with powerful anti-inflammatory effects.
Inflammation is at the root of most chronic diseases. When we reduce it—by removing inflammatory triggers and flooding the body with nutrients—we support the body’s God-designed ability to heal.
Because each of us is bio-individual—with unique dietary needs—AIRD™ isn’t a rigid diet. It’s a flexible framework to help you eat more of what God made and less of what man altered.
For my fellow visual learners, the graphic below illustrates the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ framework. The plate of real food at the top of this post shows what it might look like in action.
As you can see, this isn’t a fad diet. It doesn’t involve counting calories or carbs—it’s a flexible, foundational framework rooted in function and creation.
Why Color Matters
Each color in fruits and vegetables represents compounds with different health benefits—from anti-inflammatory to healing. Many are antioxidants that help keep oxidative stress and free radicals in check, preventing tissue damage and lowering cancer risk. Their colors aren’t just pretty—they’re protective.
The Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ encourages eating across the color spectrum, focusing on real food, proper preparation, and purposeful choices. No excesses—just balance in a framework that empowers the body and honors the Creator.
Here’s a quick snapshot of the benefits to your body when you eat the rainbow:
What Makes the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ Different?
There are plenty of diets that claim to be anti-inflammatory, but AIRD™ is different. It’s not just about eliminating the most inflammatory foods that few conventional practitioners are willing to address—like modern wheat gluten and commercial dairy—it’s about intentionally adding color, variety, and purpose back to your plate.
The AIRD™ is grounded in science and based on how our bodies were designed to heal when given the right tools. It’s also:
- Flexible enough to adapt to most therapeutic diets, like AIP or Paleo
- Rooted in proper food preparation methods to support digestion and absorption
- Compatible with both short-term healing and long-term lifestyle
- Encouraging rather than restrictive—avoiding only the most inflammatory foods
- Easy to teach children and to use in meal prep
What’s Left Out Matters Too
While AIRD™ emphasizes what to include, what you leave out matters too. This table will help help you replace the most inflammatory foods and support overall health with some smart food swaps.
The Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ at a Glance
-
- What it is: A colorful, whole-food, plant-forward framework rooted in functional nutrition and polyphenol science
- Who it’s for: Anyone dealing with inflammation, chronic illness, or just wanting to eat in a way that honors the body God designed
- Why it works: Because it nourishes at the cellular level while reducing inflammatory triggers
- What it’s not: It’s not a fad, cleanse, or crash diet. It’s a tool for healing and sustainable health.
Why AIRD™ Is Just One Part of One Chapter
But here’s the thing: AIRD™ is just one part of the prescription.
AIRD is a powerful tool, but not the whole message. The book also covers truth, freedom, mindset, community, spiritual toxins, stress, rest, movement, oral health, bone health, numbering our days, and more—all woven together through a biblical lens.
This is about stewardship of body, mind, and spirit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ gluten-free?
Yes—AIRD™ is 100% gluten-free by design.
Modern wheat contains multiple compounds that can trigger inflammation. Its gluten peptides, in particular, have been shown to increase intestinal permeability—even in people without celiac disease. Watch this short video or read the peer-reviewed article here to learn more.
For that reason, gluten-containing ingredients are not compatible with the AIRD™ framework. Some people may choose to experiment with ancient grains like einkorn for traditional sourdough, but any recipe I share under the AIRD™ umbrella will be completely gluten-free—and I encourage anyone using the framework to keep it that way.
How do I start the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™?
Start in the grocery store. Stop buying processed foods and begin filling your cart with colorful produce. As you run out of items on the Avoid list, replace them with options from the Choose list. Small swaps lead to lasting change.
Is the AIRD™ just for people with chronic illness?
Not at all. The AIRD™ is for anyone who wants to prevent chronic illness, improve their health, or simply feel better. It’s a sustainable way to nourish the body God designed—whether you’re seeking healing, better energy, or improved focus.
Do I have to be vegetarian or vegan to follow the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™?
No. The Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ (AIRD™) is plant-forward—it encourages you to eat a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables—but it is not a vegetarian or vegan diet. In fact, the AIRD™ framework intentionally includes high-quality animal proteins such as wild-caught fish, pastured poultry, grass-fed meats, and eggs from free-range chickens. These foods provide essential nutrients and complete proteins that are difficult to obtain in sufficient amounts from plants alone.
While some plant foods like quinoa and legumes offer protein, it can be challenging to meet optimal protein needs on a vegan diet without significantly increasing carbohydrate intake, which may not be ideal for everyone.
Historically, no traditional culture has thrived on a strictly vegan diet long-term. My approach is informed by both science and ancestral wisdom.
If you personally prefer a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, you can adapt the AIRD™ principles by focusing on plant-based proteins. However, I designed the original framework to include naturally raised animal protein for balanced nutrition, long-term sustainability, and healing support.
Can children or families follow the AIRD™?
Absolutely. The AIRD™ framework is flexible and family-friendly—it can be adapted for all ages. In fact, the earlier children are exposed to whole, colorful foods, the more likely they are to develop lifelong healthy habits.
Kids are often more willing to try new foods when they help prepare them. Getting them involved in shopping, washing vegetables, or assembling meals can increase their curiosity and ownership. As children begin to eat more real food, their tastes will shift—many learn to enjoy vegetables they once resisted.
AIRD™ also simplifies meal prep for busy families. By focusing on real food, color, and balance, it naturally guides food choices without requiring strict rules or separate meals for adults and kids. Plus, eating a rainbow of foods supports growth, brain development, and overall health for children and adults alike.
Is the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ low histamine or AIP-friendly?
Absolutely. You can adapt the AIRD™ framework for both low-histamine and AIP (Autoimmune Protocol) needs by choosing appropriate foods within each color group and avoiding known triggers. For example, if you’re following AIP, swap white potatoes for sweet potatoes or parsnips. For low-histamine needs, use romaine or arugula instead of spinach, and focus on freshly prepared meals instead of leftovers.
You can personalize the AIRD™ to your situation in numerous ways. I help clients adapt the framework to meet specific dietary needs—and at the time of writing this, I’m personally navigating histamine intolerance, so I understand how complex it can be.
If you’d like personalized guidance or resources to make AIRD™ work for you, I’d be happy to help.
Closing Thoughts
So, if you were expecting another cookbook… don’t worry. They’re coming.
I’m planning a whole series of AIRD™ cookbooks.
But first, I had to be obedient. I had to write what God asked me to write. I believe God’s Prescription was truly inspired by the Holy Spirit. I look forward to hearing, “Well done.”
If the Anti-Inflammatory Rainbow Diet™ resonated with you, I hope you’ll follow along as I prepare to release the book—and share this message with someone who needs it. This is just one layer of something much bigger.
