All of the woods used in this board are sustainable hardwoods. The wood in the center of this board is red alder, which grows abundantly in the coastal regions of North America. The outer pieces are black cherry, also known as American cherry, grown in Eastern North America. The inner accent stripes are bloodwood, a South American hardwood and the accent stripes flanked by cherry are black walnut, which is grown in the Eastern United States.
At (19" long including the handle) and (12" wide) this large board is perfect for cutting or serving charcuterie or bread. Hang this gorgeous board or prop it up so you can enjoy it's beauty even when it's not being used.
If you think this board is too pretty to cut on, rest assured that a little care will keep it looking like new. To keep it preserved, give it an occasional sanding with 600-grit sandpaper and an application of mineral oil and beeswax. Reapply whenever your board feels dry. Of course, you can always cut on one side and display the other.
