The beautiful piece of hard maple in the center of this board is flanked by accents of purpleheart. Framing the sides are pieces of African sapele, sometimes referred to as “sapele mahogany” with its dazzling golden to dark reddish brown tones.
If you think this maple cutting board is too pretty to cut on, rest assured that a little care will keep it looking like new. To keep it preserved, give it an occasional sanding with 600-grit sandpaper and an application of mineral oil and beeswax. Reapply whenever your board feels dry. Of course, you can always cut on one side and display the other.
